Grade Inflation

Ok, Jon Wertheim’s mid-term grades are in, and now is a good time to talk about grade inflation.

Sam Stouser was given a C.

I’m sorry, the reigning US Open champion lost in the first round of the AO, her home country’s major, and she gets a C?  No way.

Nothing against Sam Stouser, but a C?  No way.  She won the same number of matches as I did this AO, and I’ve never been to Australia.

This was funny and sad all at once.

Too funny 🙂 I remember that stood out to me too, that the lowest grade JW handed out was a C. Maybe he receives too many angry letters when he starts handing out Ds or Fs?

Glad I read it here first! Congrats on your JW entry, I finally found your question. (currently reading so as not to focus on the fact that Rafa is a set down) So… when are you getting your ticket to Australia?

Sad for Kim today. The women’s final just went from potentially great, to something I might not bother watching.

You were mentioned on JW’s mailbag!! I could have sworn I heard that line somewhere and then I saw it was from Emma in Cleveland!

I echo Ariennalee’s thoughts on the women’s final. I wanted a Petra-Kim final. If that couldn’t happen, I wanted at least *one* of the two to make the final. Instead, the Satanic forces have taken over and I will most likely not bother watching either!
