Russell Barnett Aitken was born in Cleveland and studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art, graduating in 1931.
This picture is in the local artists areas of the Cleveland Museum of Art, in the Modern Art section. Strangely enough this is a very traditional painting. Or at the very least, it is a very, very traditional subject.
