Meditation on Irrational Thoughts Part 10

The idea that you can achieve happiness by inaction or by passively and uncommittedly ‘enjoying yourself’.

For me, this is about the need to take action.

I am very, very much a couch potato.  I have always had a big problem with that.  I tend to come back from work, plop down on the couch, and just spend way, way too much time on Twitter and You Tube.

The whole reason I call myself Emma online is because, in Jane Austen’s Emma, Emma compiles a list of books to improve her mind and she never reads any of them.

I am that way too.  I buy lots of books, but then don’t read them.  Or listen to the Audible books I have.

Either way, I need to commit to taking a more active role in my leisure activities, and in volunteering as well.

Next season, I am going to volunteer as an usher for Dobama Theater.  I may not be able to do it every show, but I will find a way.
